Pay attention to students’ riding safety – a series of small classes on traffic safety at the beginning of school season
The Student Safety Sanming Traffic Police collected and sorted out the traffic accident cases involving students in the jurisdiction in recent years.
Aiming at the problems in the cases, they popularized the traffic safety knowledge to students through the traffic safety series of small classes, and carried out targeted tips on safe travel.
In this issue, we pay attention to the safety of students’ riding.
In addition to taking public transport and private cars, cycling is also one of the main means of transportation for primary and secondary school students.
At about 13:00 on October 9, 2020, a 12-year-old student, Liu, riding a bicycle from Yunding Meishu Community in Yong’an to the direction of the school, passed the zebra crossing at the intersection of the community, but did not get off the car and accelerated to cross, and collided with a small car that was normally going straight, and the car that followed the car rear-ended, resulting in a comminuted fracture of Liu’s left femoral bone and damage to both vehicles.
Students need to pay attention to the following safety knowledge points when riding a bike together to review 01 Don’t ride a bike on the road under the age of 12 ▲ Boys under the age of 12 are hit when riding a bike across the zebra crossing.
If you are under the age of 12, generally speaking, children under the age of 12 have a large head weight, while the chest and back mobility are relatively small.
If the body inclines, bumps or brakes sharply when riding a bike, the head is prone to fall forward; However, the balance and stability of bicycles are poor, as well as the ability of young children to distinguish the road situation and perceive the danger is weak, it is easy to fall down and get injured when facing unexpected situations.
Therefore, children under the age of 12 should not ride bicycles on the road.
Parents should also do their duty of guardianship.
Do not unlock shared bicycles for children under the age of 12.
If you are over the age of 12 and ride bicycles on the road, please pay attention not to the following dangerous behaviors: take off the handlebars, retrograde chasing speed It is clearly stipulated in Article 72 of the Regulations for the Implementation of the Road Traffic Safety Law that electric bicycles must be at least 16 years old when driving.
If you are under the age of 16 and have a weak ability to control vehicles and deal with emergencies, and cannot adapt to the complex travel environment, it is easy to be dangerous.
Therefore, students under the age of 16 should not ride electric bicycles on the road.
If you are at least 16 years old and ride an electric bicycle on the road, you should not have the following dangerous behaviors: retrograde, running a red light without wearing a safety helmet, illegally carrying people, carrying goods and trucks too close to each other.
03 When walking in the non-motorized lane, bicycles and electric bicycles should pass in the non-motorized lane.
If there is no non-motorized lane, they should pass on the right side of the road.
It is strictly prohibited to enter the motorized lane and mix with motor vehicles.
04 Try to keep driving in a straight line ▲ There are many places around the car that can’t be seen by the driver due to the “ghost probe” accident caused by the snake crossing of students’ bicycles.
It is inevitable that part of the vision will be blocked.
Whether it is a bicycle or an electric bicycle, when riding close to the motor vehicle, make sure you are seen, and beware of entering the blind area of the motor vehicle driver’s vision.
Therefore, you should try to keep driving straight and avoid snaking on the road.
05 Keep away from the blind area of large trucks.
Due to the large tires and the high cab, there are blind areas of vision and internal wheel differences for large trucks.
If you find a large truck passing by when riding, you must be vigilant to avoid driving into the blind area of the truck.
First of all, don’t overestimate your driving skills, “cut the needle in the nick” into the blind area of trucks, or drive side by side with large trucks.
Secondly, be sure to stop in front of the sidewalk and stop line, and pay attention to observe whether there are large trucks turning right at the left rear.
Don’t try to overtake the turning cart when crossing the intersection.
The best way to avoid danger is to stay away! far from! far from! Source: Sanming Traffic Police.
