He has ridden 147 countries in 19 years. At the age of 59, I want to be as cool as him!

Global travel=money and leisure? Only when you are young can you see the world? not.

In 1997, at the age of 40, Li Yuezhong began a trip he called “just a little longer than others”.

In the past 19 years, he was robbed by the police in Iraq and suffered from malaria in Africa.

These “minor accidents” could not stop his enthusiasm to see the world.

How can visas be handled in 147 countries? How can he solve the language barrier when no one wants to travel abroad? As for the most concerned cost issue, let’s make a brief explanation: it is not more expensive than a bathroom in Beijing.

Reading time: Re-understanding the five minutes of global travel in 1999 and entering the Sahara Desert by bike in Bolivia, Iraq, Britain, Tangshan, United Arab Emirates, Li Yuezhong has traveled 147 countries 225 times in the past 19 years, 4 months and 10 days.

He reached Hammersfield, Norway, at 70 ° 40 ‘north latitude, and Ushuaia, Argentina, at 54 ° 47’ south latitude in the northernmost.

He crossed the equatorial line six times in Asia, Africa and the Americas, accompanied only by bicycles, tents, passports and a book introducing world famous places.

The figure of Li Yuezhong in front of him is very thin, and his simple breath is like that of a neighbor.

However, when he talked about his experiences during the trip: mines in the Sahara Desert, stone cooking in Indonesia and Peru, and the spectacular geyser in Iceland Those amazing stories I casually talked about made me believe that the matter of global travel has nothing to do with age, wealth, smart phones and travel strategies.

In Ecuador and Kenya, crossing the equatorial line, the landmark building of the Arctic Circle in Finland ※ “I didn’t expect to travel all over China so soon”, the thousand-mile trip began with “setting a small goal that can be achieved first”.

In the 1970s, when there was enough to eat, Li Yuezhong, who was fond of reading since childhood, was immersed in the heroic feelings of Tang Dynasty poets traveling around the world, and conceived the idea that “if you can travel all over China, you can live a life”.

Although it was necessary to carry a letter of introduction to go to the next city at that time, Li Yuezhong, in his early twenties, decided to save money to do something that most people had never thought of: travel.

In 1979, after earning his first money by working, he chose to walk from Tangshan to Hangzhou for a round trip of 3000 kilometers.

In 1982, with 3000 yuan earned from small businesses and a “Dictionary of Chinese Places of Interest”, he traveled across 21 provinces, cities and autonomous regions of the country by bike in one year and two months.

In May 1982, it was only a few years since the “Forever” portable bicycle, and the goal of “living in vain” was soon achieved.

At that moment, a bigger dream began to take shape in his heart.

※ Make money, learn English, set up floor stands, shoes wholesale, and small businesses to travel around the world Every money Li Yuezhong earns is for his clear and unique goal: to travel around the world.

Besides money, language is also the most practical problem.

Li Yuezhong, 30, began to learn English by himself.

“Later, I found that the textbook was too difficult to remember.

I bought an English story book and compared it with a dictionary, so I learned English a little bit.” Having gained money and language skills in front of the Brisbane City Hall in Australia, Li Yuezhong’s next step was to “find a chance to go to a foreign country and get familiar with the environment”.

After all, it was not an era when people could travel freely with their passports.

To be precise, it was rare for individuals to hold passports.

After spending more than a year, Li Yuezhong finally received an invitation from his indirect friend from Bulgaria, and could set foot in a foreign country he had long yearned for.

Li Yuezhong, who had just arrived in Bulgaria, went to learn a three-level cook certificate for this purpose.

“After all, he must have a skill”.

After arriving in Bulgaria, he first served as the chef of a Chinese restaurant, and then opened a Chinese restaurant of his own.

“I said when I signed the contract for renting a house, I would not drive it all the time because I was going to travel,” Li Yuezhong recalled.

Three and a half years later, Li Yuezhong was ready to leave.

This time, he was accompanied by a brand new bicycle and the Dictionary of World Places of Interest.

“Do you think you should go that far at first?”? How much does it cost to travel around the world? For Li Yuezhong, the answer to this question is: $100000.

In addition to working part-time in the United States and the United Kingdom, in the past 19 years, Li Yuezhong basically spent all his money from his savings.

The tent he carried with him was his home around the world.

Therefore, his travel was basically adjusted according to the seasons at the beginning, and he tried to run to the southern hemisphere in winter in the northern hemisphere.

The money for camping accommodation was saved.

Picnic was the norm for him to eat three meals a day.

The iteration of gas stove, gas stove and alcohol stove became his silent companion on the long journey.

“But in Europe, I also want to taste regular French and Italian food,” Li Yuezhong added.

What is more annoying is that the bike was stolen.

In all these years, he has lost seven bicycles.

“Because I set out to see scenic spots, walking was a bit slow, and the speed of my bike was just right.

I also took the bus after I lost my bike, but the place I could see was too limited, so I had to buy one as soon as possible.” After the bike was stolen in Brasilia, the well-intentioned passer-by gave me a bike with twists and turns, which must be accompanied by luck.

In Angola, Africa, Li Yuezhong actually boarded an American cargo ship to Brazil and sailed across the Atlantic Ocean for free.
