Ride more smoothly and safely! The auxiliary road of Beijing Tibet expressway has been widened by 14.1km

After the reconstruction of Deshengmen bus station, non motorized lanes are added.

Beijing, January 11 (Dong Zhaorui) broaden 14.1 kilometers of non motorized lanes, standardize the driving order of 62 bus stations, and supplement the slow driving function of 4 overpass areas The reporter learned from the Beijing Municipal Transportation Commission that by the end of 2021, the comprehensive renovation and improvement project of the slow lane of the auxiliary road of Beijing Tibet expressway was completed, and the smoothness and systematicness of the slow lane system along the line were further improved.

It is understood that the comprehensive renovation and upgrading project of the slow corridor of Beijing Tibet auxiliary road starts from Deshengmen bridge on the second ring road and ends at Xiguan roundabout island in Changping, with a total length of about 35 km.

The renovation project was launched in late October 2021 by Beijing Municipal Transportation Commission, municipal public security traffic administration bureau and municipal Landscaping Bureau.

Aiming at the problems of substandard slow traffic facilities in some sections, lack of partial functions of slow traffic system in overpass area, interweaving of motor and non motor vehicles in bus stations, the measures were taken to broaden non motor lanes and pedestrian walkways, standardize traffic order at bus stations Improve the slow traffic function in the interchange area.

In order to ensure the safe and smooth traffic of non motorized lanes, the width of non motorized lanes has been widened by 14.1km in this project by appropriately reducing the width of motorized lanes and occupying outer green space.

Among them, for the urban road section from Deshengmen to the south of Xisanqi bridge, the width of the non motorized lane of the auxiliary road with a length of 2.2km is adjusted to 3.5m; For the 21 km ordinary highway section from the north of Xisanqi bridge to Xiguan roundabout, the length of 11.9 km auxiliary road and the width of non motor vehicle lane shall be adjusted to 2.5 M.

After the implementation of the project, except for individual points and sections, the minimum width of non motorized lanes of the whole line is no less than 2.5m, and the compliance rate is 92.3%, an increase of 17.4%.

In order to ensure the safety and convenience of pedestrian travel along the line, in this project, targeted rectification work is carried out according to the pedestrian flow and travel demands of different sections.

For example, there is no footpath on the south side of the North Beach Bridge of the Beijing Tibet auxiliary road (the direction out of Beijing).

Originally, pedestrians can only use the tree pool belt with a width of about 1.5m between the motor vehicle lane and the bicycle lane of the auxiliary road.

This time, the width of the footpath is adjusted to 2.5m by compressing the motor vehicle lane to ensure the pedestrian right of way.

For the section with sidewalk width less than 1.5m to the north of Xisanqi bridge, the way of occupying outer green space and concrete shoulder, transforming side ditch and rainwater well is adopted to further broaden the sidewalk traffic width, with a total reconstruction length of 3.38km.

After the implementation of the project, the standard rate of sidewalk width of the whole line (no less than 2m in urban section and no less than 1.5m in highway section) has increased by 21.2%.

In order to ensure the safe and convenient riding of non motor vehicles at bus stops, the traffic order at 62 bus stops along the line has been standardized by improving the diversion Island, setting flexible isolation columns, drawing bicycle priority ground signs, setting color pavement and standardizing the bus stop order, effectively solving the problem of traffic conflicts and ensuring the safe and orderly passage of non motor vehicles.

In addition, in order to improve the quality of slow travel in the overpass area, the project implements “one bridge and one policy” according to local conditions, and completes the transformation of four overpass areas such as Deshengmen bridge, Madian Bridge and Shangqing bridge.

In deshengmenqiao District, there are many intersections, unclear slow path, too narrow footpath width, difficult bus entry and exit, peak traffic congestion and other problems.

In order to improve the slow travel environment in deshengmenqiao District, the footpath width in the southwest corner is widened from 3.3m to 6m, and the pedestrian footpath in the East is widened from 3m to 4.3m.

At the same time, the bus stops and non motorized lanes on the East and west sides of Deshengmen arrow tower are widened and reconstructed.

Before the reconstruction, the width of the platform sidewalk is only 1.8m, which can not meet the needs of passengers waiting and pedestrians.

This time, the width of the bus platform is widened to 4m, a 3.5m bus harbor and a 3M non motorized lane are added, and the road surface color pavement is added to further ensure the right of way of non motorized vehicles, The overall optimization improves the slow traffic environment.

The relevant person in charge of Beijing Municipal Transportation Commission said that the comprehensive renovation and improvement project of the slow traffic corridor of the auxiliary road of Beijing Tibet expressway is an important part of the action to improve the quality of Beijing’s urban slow traffic system in 2021.

In recent years, in accordance with the traffic development concept of “slow traffic priority, public transport priority and green priority”, Beijing has vigorously advocated and promoted the development of slow traffic system, continuously improved the travel quality of slow traffic in terms of ensuring road rights, maintaining order, supporting facilities and improving the environment, and encouraged and supported citizens to adopt more “walking + cycling” travel methods, Increase the proportion of green travel.

This year, the transportation department will continue to promote the construction and renovation of slow traffic system, improve quality and efficiency, further enhance the attraction of walking and cycling, and make slow traffic a part of citizens’ healthy life.
